Synopsis

This book is a textbook for the Scientific Diving course taught to students of the Underwater Ecotourism Study Program at the Manado State Polytechnic. This book presents materials on diving plans, diving health, dangerous biota that must be considered and avoided by divers, techniques and methods for monitoring coral reef ecosystems equipped with pictures. The techniques and methods for monitoring coral reef ecosystems are Line Intercept Transect (LIT), Point Intercept Transect (PIT), Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) and Manta Tow. In addition, this book also contains techniques and procedures for monitoring coral fish and macro benthic animals. This book is also equipped with practice questions to measure the level of student understanding. We would like to express our gratitude to the Manado State Polytechnic for giving us the opportunity to write this textbook, and we would also like to thank P4M Polimdo, the editor and publisher of this textbook. We sincerely hope that this textbook can help readers to improve their knowledge and skills in carrying out coral reef ecosystem monitoring activities.
