Synopsis

One of the most important and vital things about the hospitality industry is that it provides unique services that are important to the tourism sector. Hospitality educates you on how to properly supervise and manage guests, and how to go the extra mile to satisfy guests. For the hospitality industry to develop and grow, better infrastructure is essential. as the industry grew, the government was forced to take necessary steps to improve road and transport services in tourism-oriented areas, which then paved the way for further capital expenditure and development.
The textbook for Front Office Course 1, entitled Hotel Reservation, is prepared as a core learning resource in the field of hospitality tourism learning based on the PBL (Project Based Learning) approach. The purpose of writing this book is to provide references needed by students to work in the real world. After studying all the material presented in this book, students will have competence in using various basic MICE business concepts in the context of learning and implementing them in the real world of work in the hospitality industry.

Author Biographies

Pearl Loesye Wenas, SE., MSi, Manado State Polytechnic

Pearl Loesye Wenas, Born in Amurang, South Minahasa on November 10 1974. Undergraduate education at Sam Ratulangi University, Faculty of Economics, Department of Management and obtained a Bachelor of Economics (SE). Continued his Masters degree at Sam Ratulangi University in the field of Resource Management and received an MSi degree in 2008.

Became an Educator at the Manado State Polytechnic, Tourism Department, D3 Hospitality Study Program since 2003. And in the D4 Hospitality Study Program since 2010 until now. Teaches several courses including: Front Office 1, Front Office 2, Human Resources Management, Hotel Marketing, Psychology of Service, Entrepreneurship and Introduction to Management. Obtained a FO Receptionist Competency Certificate and became a Competency Assessor in 2009 & regained a competency certificate as a Front Office Supervisor in November 2021. In 2008-2012 he had additional duties as Department Secretary and Member of the Manado State Polytechnic Senate in 2012-2020 and now as Head of Front Office Laboratory.

Prof. Dr. Bet El Silisna Lagarense, MMTour, Manado State Polytechnic

Bet El Silisna Lagarense, Born in Beteleme, Kab. North Morowali, Prov. Central Sulawesi, 13 December 1966. Inaugurated as Professor in the 11mu Field of Tourism at the Manado State Polytechnic on 13 December 2016. Completed formal education as a Doctor of Philosophy, Department of Geography and Environmental Management, University of Waterloo. CANADA (2011). Master of Management in Tourism Management, University of Technology, Sydney, AUSTRALIA (2000) and Bachelor of English, IKIP Negeri Manado, INDONESIA (1991). As a lecturer in the D4-Bachelor of Applied Hospitality Study Program, he teaches several courses, namely Research Study on Tourism, Research Methods, Front Office, Psychology of Service, Management Information Systems and Hotel English. Apart from being a Professor and teaching staff, he is also Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Hospitality and Tourism Journal at the Tourism Department, Negeti Manado Polytechnic. Apart from that, he often works on regional tourism planning and development projects, as a consultant, trainer, auditor and competency assessor in the tourism sector.
