INTRODUCTION TO ECOTOURISM
(SEMESTER I)
Dra. Dianne O. Rondonuwu, MM
Drs. Robert D. Towoliu, MSc
The Department of Tourism, especially the Global Tourism Management Study Program of the Manado State Polytechnic, targets its graduates to know Introduction to Ecotourism so that they can know skills on how to manage responsible tourists who will travel to natural destinations, minimize environmental impacts, instill environmental awareness so as not to threaten the lives/habitats of Flora and Fauna, provide direct economic benefits/advantages for conservation, improve the welfare of residents in the destination area and respect the existing local culture. This knowledge and skills are needed when they want to apply for jobs or be interviewed by domestic and international tourism industries according to their competencies/skills.
The absence of a reference textbook for Introduction to Ecotourism for Semester 1 students of the Global Tourism Management Study Program has motivated the author to compile this Textbook by referring to the applicable Curriculum and Semester Learning Plan (RPS) Semester 1 of the Department of Tourism - Manado State Polytechnic, especially for students of the Global Tourism Management Study Program.
The teaching book to be completed will be a reference book for students and lecturers who will teach Introduction to Ecotourism in semester 1 for the Global Tourism Management Study Program.
